🔋 Tallahassee breaks ground on first fast EV charging station. | Talgov

• The City of Tallahassee is making progress towards its clean energy goals by building its first Level 3 DC Fast Charging station, which is set to launch in 2026. This station, situated at 233-1 W. Van Buren Street will include four fast-charging ports that can completely charge electric vehicles in just 20 minutes. It represents the fastest and most powerful public EV charging technology available today.  

• The initiative aligns with the City’s Clean Energy Resolution (2019) and Clean Energy Plan (2023), both aiming for 100% renewable energy by 2050. Mayor John Dailey highlighted the City’s progressive investments as key to its selection as a 2025 All-America City. 🍃 | CityClips #433

• The EV station will be centrally located near Anita Favors Plaza, Cascades Park, Lake Anita, and local businesses. It aims to provide both convenience and leisure while vehicles are charging. A public groundbreaking ceremony took place last June 24, marking the start of construction.

💡 Impact as of February 2025:

• 6.2M mi. logged by City electric/hybrid vehicles.

• 5.5M lbs. of CO₂ emissions avoided (equivalent to planting over 41,250 trees).

• 33% of the City’s light-duty fleet and 42% of the StarMetro bus fleet are now electric or hybrid.
