📈 MIDFLORIDA announced its acquisition of Prime Meridian Bank in Tallahassee. | MIDFLORIDA

  • Founded in 2008, Prime Meridian Bank operates four branches in Florida: two in Tallahassee, one in Crawfordville, and one in Lakeland. The bank is well-known for its emphasis on commercial and mortgage lending, as well as its commitment to personalized, community-oriented service, and a customer-first philosophy.

  • MidFlorida Credit Union recently announced its plan to acquire Prime Meridian Holding Company and Prime Meridian Bank. This marks the third bank acquisition in five years, highlighting its strong growth strategy. The agreement has received unanimous approval from the board and is anticipated to finalize in early 2026, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.

  • Once the merger is complete, the new entity will oversee $9.5B in assets, $7.2B in loans, operate 66 branches, and employ approximately 1,578 staff. All 975 Prime Meridian employees will be retained, supporting continuity in service.

  • Expansion will extend MidFlorida’s physical footprint into Florida’s Panhandle, particularly the Big Bend area. Their goal is to combine local branch accessibility and personalized service with increased scale and digital improvements, all while keeping Prime Meridian staff and community focus. 💖

🏊🏼 George Ellis and community leaders motivate future generations. | Tallahassee Democrat

  • The Lawrence-Gregory Community Center in Tallahassee recently hosted a meaningful homecoming for George Ellis, the esteemed founder of Florida A&M University’s swimming program, who came back to motivate local youth at the place where his journey started.

  • Ellis, who was recently inducted into the FAMU Sports Hall of Fame in 2024, coached the FAMU swim team from 1971 to 2005. Under his leadership, the team won 8 Black College National Championships and achieved an impressive 99% graduation rate. 🤩

  • He motivated children to show respect for others, acquire survival skills, and contribute positively to society: “Learn the history and try to contribute to the future.” He continued, “Remember that if you do something good, good will follow you. Do something bad, that’ll follow you.”

  • The Robinson-Trueblood Swimming Pool Reunion Committee works to uplift youth through mentorship, fundraising, and programming. The group donated $1,000 to the summer camp at the center, helping to support activities for over 100 children. 💝

  • Ellis’s journey and ongoing participation show the significant influence of going back to your roots to lead, mentor, and invest in future generations.
