| 🥁🎶 Raa Middle School Steelband performed in the President's Concert at All-State conference. | Tal Dem The Raa Middle School Advanced Steelband was chosen from numerous applications to showcase their talent at the prestigious President's Concert during the 2025 Florida Music Education Association Conference in Tampa, Florida. 25 students will perform to open the conference with well-known pieces like Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke" and Beethoven's "Fur Elise." This event unites music educators and the best Florida band, orchestra, and chorus students for All State. In Florida, there are only three full time steelband programs in Florida. Two are high schools, one being Tallahassee's very own Leon High School. Additionally, Raa is the sole middle school that provides a full-time steelband course, which includes three different levels of instruction throughout the day. "Because this concert is for my fellow music educators, the goal for me with this concert is to showcase what the steel pan can play," said William Sahely, Raa Middle School steelband director.
