| 🍽️😋 Celebrity chef Guy Fieri recently visited 6 Tallahassee restaurants for his show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Fieri's visit generated excitement and local pride among the restaurant’s patrons. | Tal Dem After a surprise visit to 6 locally owned spots, we’ve got the answers on Tallahassee’s top eats, straight from celebrity chef Guy Fieri himself. During his visits, he met with staff and customers to get their thoughts on the food and sample a variety of signature menu items.
In case you missed which restaurants were featured or you are doing a dining tour of your own, here are the six restaurants the popular chef visited in Tallahassee: Backwoods Crossing - Fieri’s first stop, featured in the episode "Funky Fresh," was called a "Southern standout." With a seasonal menu and a "farm-to-table" motto, they keep their dishes fresh year-round. Coosh's Bayou Rouge - Second feature, in the episode "Seafood and Comfort," had Fieri calling it the "real deal." Known for its Louisiana staples, the spot serves up hearty jambalayas and po'boy sandwiches. Halisi Africa - The latest feature, in the episode "African, Sicilian and Sandwiches," showcased owners expanding into two next-door spaces in Railroad Square. There, they plan to host community events and enjoy an upgraded kitchen. Leon's at Lake Ella - The Southern eatery was featured in the episode "World Tour of Flavor," where Fieri called it a "tucked away gem." This isn’t the chef’s first national TV appearance—he also showcased his skills on Hulu Originals' Secret Chef and has made several appearances at events and collaborations. Pineappetit - The final dining feature is in the episode "Sandwiches, Seafood and Sweets." Owner Sam Burgess gained local fame with his bright yellow food truck, which he launched in 2018. Tally Mac Shack - Comfort food destination, dubbed a "university hotspot" by Fieri, was the 3rd local spot featured in the episode "Pizza, Latin and Mac." The food truck has earned several accolades, including being named Tallahassee’s Best Food Truck 5 times, winning the 2020 Capital City Youth Services’ Tally Award, and being recognized as U.S. Senate Small Business of the Week by Sen. Marco Rubio.
