|
| | 🌦️ WeatherSTEM x Disney: A Forecast for Safety and Innovation. | Yahoo Tech Tallahassee-based WeatherSTEM has partnered with Disney’s SyncLink Technology to develop advanced weather monitoring systems, starting with cruise line operations and expanding to Disney’s global properties. The goal: smarter and safer outdoor experiences. The collaboration was sparked by WeatherSTEM’s successful work with Florida’s Division of Emergency Management, where their solar-powered Severe Weather Mesonets now provide real-time, hyper-local weather data to state agencies, counties, and the public. Disney is moving toward a unified, data-driven approach to weather safety, shifting from site-by-site monitoring to a consolidated system that supports all its resorts, parks, and cruise lines worldwide. 🌍 The partnership also aims to boost public safety at beaches and other outdoor areas, using WeatherSTEM’s technology to give beachgoers and emergency responders vital, real-time info on surf and weather conditions. WeatherSTEM CEO Ed Mansouri envisions a “Disney Mesonet” — a global network of weather stations replicating what his company has built across Florida, helping Disney stay one step ahead of the weather wherever magic happens. 🪄✨

| 📚 Knowlify: Turning Homework Into Instant Learning. | UF Innovate via YT Knowlify is a student-led startup born at the University of Florida that uses AI to turn homework questions and study materials into personalized, Khan Academy-style video lessons — within seconds. The idea? Make learning feel less like a chore and more like having your own on-demand tutor. Co-founder Jonathan Maynard and his team built Knowlify from real academic frustration. While taking a graduate-level statistics course, they struggled to find videos that matched their exact homework problems, so they created a tool that could. What started as a personal solution quickly caught on with fellow students, sparking the launch of Knowlify. The platform removes friction from learning by offering tailored, fast-paced video explanations that speak directly to a student's problem, whether it’s a tricky concept or a complex equation. And while the focus began with students, the team is also exploring professional applications: employee training, onboarding, and upskilling where smart, customizable learning is equally valuable. Did you know? Knowlify recently took home the Panelist Choice Award at Gator Pitch Miami and just announced they’ve been accepted into Y Combinator, one of the world’s top startup accelerators — marking a major step forward for this AI-driven education platform.
