| ⚙️ Florida's Bold Push to Create 10,000+ Semiconductor Jobs. | UF Innovate via LI Dr. Mark Arnold, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, leads the Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI), a statewide initiative focused on transforming Florida into a hub for semiconductor innovation and job creation. Semiconductors, also known as chips, power everyday devices like smartphones, cars, and computers, as well as critical systems in finance, defense, AI, and space exploration. The U.S. is working to bring chip manufacturing back from overseas, and FSI is helping Florida take a leadership role in this movement. FSI's mission focuses on three key areas: Research & Development: Collaborating with global industry and university partners to drive innovation in specialty electronics. Workforce Development: Building clear career pathways from high school through university and beyond, preparing Floridians at all levels for high-tech jobs. Statewide Coordination: Aligning efforts across educational institutions, industries, and government to ensure cohesive progress and shared goals.
With its multi-faceted strategy, the Florida Semiconductor Institute is laying the groundwork to create over 10,000 new jobs. ✨
