| 📚 The LeRoy Collins Library in Leon County recently completed the first phase of a major renovation project, featuring 30,000 sq. ft. of newly renovated space. | Leon County Library via IG Dozens gathered on the 2nd floor of the LeRoy Collins Library on Sept. 26 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating a modern facelift, one of many in store for the library's central branch downtown. ✂️🎀 The ribbon cutting marked the completion of Phase 1, a $2.3M project. Phase 2, estimated at $2.5M, will be carried out over the next three fiscal years. The renovations are part of the county's Essential Library Initiative, which focuses on four key areas: literacy and lifelong learning, business and workforce development, civic and community engagement, and arts and humanities. The renovations have led to several new features: 15 multi-use meeting rooms that can be reserved with a library card, a new Learning Commons with space for adult education and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring, expanded public computer areas, comfortable seating, updated furniture, new flooring and shelving, and improved directional signage. 👥🎙️ The standout features of the renovation are the Sound Booth, a soundproof recording studio, and the Career Corner workforce development hub, which includes a career center and a Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) excavator simulator designed to help individuals gain hands-on construction experience before entering a real job site. The LeRoy Collins Library hosts a variety of events, most of which are free and open to the public. For latest updates, check their socials: IG and FB.
